June 28, 2022 – Crunchyroll announces acquisition from Kodansha of global (excluding Asia) distribution and marketing rights to the film That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond.
The feature premieres in Japan next November and starts to arrive in other countries in early 2023.
the movie if based on one of the best-selling light novels, written by Fuze and illustrated by Mitz Vah, and in the popular fantasy adventure anime series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. The series follows Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old boy who dies and is reincarnated as the most uninteresting creature of all – a slime. With no eyesight, no hearing, and no powers, his starting situation is pretty dangerous, but by combining two special abilities, the newly christened Rimuru Tempest uses his sticky powers to bring friends and foes together in this vast new world. The story of the film is independent of the plot of the series and takes place after the second season of the anime. More details will be revealed in the coming months.
“The series remains a fan favorite among Crunchyroll audiences. We are excited to continue this adventure with the theatrical release of the film early next year,” said Mitchell Berger, senior vice president of Global Commerce at Crunchyroll.

The power of ties will be put to the test!
