They can't even imagine that this theory could be true and things will get out of hand, as Kaneki ends up getting involved, unknowingly, with one of these creatures, which, when attacking the boy, ends up dying accidentally, but leaves him seriously injured and on the verge of death. The only salvation? A transplant involving the creature itself, but one that could have terrible consequences for Kaneki. What will happen from now on?
