Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) is a homicide detective who is given new responsibilities after discovering that he is a descendant of the Grimm, a secret society. His main goal is to find a balance between real life and mythology. The new routine brings challenges and dangers, especially for Nick's fiancée, Juliette Silverton (Bitsie Tulloch), and his coworker, Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby).
Meet Richard Castle: he's a successful murder mystery writer who has just killed off his main character. However, it seems that one of his fans liked his books a little too much when a copycat killer starts killing people around him, as described in Castle's books. After being questioned by the police, Richard joins forces with Detective Kate Beckett to solve the case. The two become partners and start working together to solve other murders in New York, along with other detectives Tony Esposito, Kevin Ryan and Captain Roy Montgomery. They also work with coroner Lanie Parish. Richard's family includes his mother Martha Rodgers, who was a Broadway diva, and his daughter Alexis.
