Renowned Japanese entertainment company GEM Partners recently revealed a monthly ranking of the most-watched programs on streaming platforms in May. So it’s worth noting two things: Firstly, it counts all kinds of programs, not just anime, and secondly, Jujutsu Kaisen is at the top for the 3rd month in a row! See the list below:
Jujutsu Kaisen – Leading the Ranking!
So we can see that Jujutsu Kaisen is at the top! Following it is the anime Detective Conan. What’s even more surprising is that in March and April, Jujutsu Kaisen was also at the top, making it the 3rd most-watched program in Japan in a row!
Another highlight is the Anime of the Season: Tokyo Revengers, which saw a significant rise from 20th place to 4th. It’s also important to note that the company surveys 7,000 Japanese every week between the ages of 16 and 69 about what they’ve seen that week. Whether on Netflix, Amazon Prime, U-NEXT, Hulu Japan, Disney Plus, ABEMA Premium or other platforms.
Finally, completing the top 5 is Kimetsu no Yaiba in 3rd place and Attack on Titan in 5th! In other words, the Top 5 looked like this:
- 1st Jujutsu Kaisen
- 2nd Detective Conan
- 3rd Kimetsu no Yaiba
- 4th Tokyo Revengers
- 5th Attack on Titan!
The most incredible thing of all is to know that the Top 5 is made up exclusively of Anime among so many entertainment programs that Japan has!
Synopsis of Jujutsu Kaisen
The plot revolves around the young student Yuuji Itadori, who has great physical potential, but nevertheless chooses to join the occult club at school. But one day, when he finds a cursed object, the life of the young student and his friends is turned upside down. In the midst of the confusion, he is forced to eat the cursed object giving him powers, but now he is condemned to collect all the other objects or die by the Sorcerers’ Association. What the future holds for Itadori is still a great mystery…
